Carbon Brief aims at publishing clear, data-driven articles and graphics to help improve the understanding of climate change, both in terms of the science and the policy response.

Carbon Brief publish a wide range of content, including interviews and analysis, as well as daily and weekly email summaries of newspaper and online coverage.

The website focusses on five key areas: Science, Energy, Policy, In Focus and a Daily Briefing section. The ‘Science’ section covers topics mostly related to climate change, extreme weather events and nature, while the ‘Energy’ section provides content around different forms of energy such as nuclear and renewables. The ‘Policy’ section covers developments in the United Kingdom, United States, European Union and internationally while the ‘In Focus’ section of the website features deep dive reports and research on topics such as country profiles, special features, fact-checks and interviews.

The website also publishes useful climate-related  infographics supported by detailed analysis and listings of data sources. Some examples of featured infographics include:

CarbonBrief is funded by the European Climate Foundation. Funding for the financial year 2018 totalled £551,217.
