European Finance Association (EFA), founded in 1974, is an international non-profit association of academics and professionals in finance. It aims to advance research and education in financial management, markets, and theory, fostering knowledge exchange across Europe and globally.

EFA promotes excellence in financial research and teaching, supporting innovation in areas such as corporate finance, investments, and financial intermediation. Structure and governance
EFA operates under a governance structure comprising an Executive Committee, General Assembly, and appointed officers. It is administered by the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM). Leadership rotates annually, ensuring academic diversity and representation across institutions.
Programs and offerings
EFA hosts an Annual Meeting that gathers researchers and practitioners to present and discuss leading finance scholarship. It also organises Doctoral Tutorials and Workshops to support early-career academics. Its flagship Review of Finance journal publishes peer-reviewed research recognised for rigour and innovation. Mission
The European Finance Association (EFA) was created in 1974 under the auspices of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and in close cooperation with the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM).
EFA’s mission is to foster a professional society for academics, practitioners, and doctoral students in the greater field of Finance, who are interested in research areas such as financial management and financial theory along with their applications. EFA serves its community of members based in Europe and elsewhere in the world as an evolving professional network for the exchange of ideas, expertise, news and knowledge in Finance at the international level.
