Overview
Climate High-Level Champions was established in 2015 following the Paris Agreement to mobilise non-state actors in global climate action. Operating under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), it connects governments, businesses, investors, and communities to accelerate action towards net-zero emissions and climate resilience.
Mission and focus areas
The organisation aims to turn climate commitments into measurable progress. Its work spans campaigns such as Race to Zero and Race to Resilience, advancing decarbonisation, adaptation, and sustainable finance. Focus areas include energy, nature, industry, transport, and finance, aligning closely with sustainable finance and ESG integration principles.
Structure and governance
The initiative is led by appointed High-Level Champions representing consecutive COP presidencies. Supported by teams, global ambassadors, and the Marrakech Partnership, it collaborates with coalitions and regional platforms to coordinate implementation and accountability across sectors. Leadership emphasises cross-sector collaboration and transparent governance.
Programs and offerings
Climate High-Level Champions delivers frameworks, action agendas, and solution databases such as the 2030 Climate Solutions and Granary of Solutions. These initiatives showcase scalable projects, enabling practitioners and policymakers to implement effective climate solutions. Through events, reports, and partnerships, it strengthens global collaboration toward resilient and equitable low-carbon systems.
