Overview: The Accountability Framework initiative (AFi) is a collective effort of over 20 environmental and human rights NGOs, designed to advance ethical supply chains in the agriculture and forestry sectors.
Mission and focus areas: The AFi’s core mission is to provide a practical, consensus-based guide—the Accountability Framework—to help companies and stakeholders achieve and monitor ethical supply chains, focusing on eliminating deforestation, land conversion, and human rights abuses.
Structure and governance: The AFi operates as a coalition of NGOs working collaboratively to promote and implement the Accountability Framework globally, engaging companies, civil society, governments, industry groups, and investors to drive sector-wide progress.
Programs and offerings: The AFi offers the Accountability Framework as an actionable resource for companies and stakeholders. It provides guidance on best practices, supports implementation, and facilitates collaboration across players in commodity production and trade to strengthen policies and accountability.
The AFi’s mission is to make ethical supply chains in the agriculture and forestry sectors the new normal.
We do this by helping companies to transition their businesses, and other stakeholders to transform the enabling environment, so that commodity supply chains are protective of natural ecosystems and human rights.
