Overview
Bezos Earth Fund was established in 2020 with a US $10 billion commitment from Jeff Bezos to combat climate change and protect nature. Its mission is to accelerate progress toward a sustainable, equitable future where both people and the planet can thrive by 2030.
Mission and focus areas
The Fund supports initiatives that drive systemic change across conservation, decarbonisation, sustainable food systems, and environmental justice. Its work aligns with sustainable finance by advancing innovation in green industries, data transparency, and market mechanisms that incentivise low-carbon development.
Structure and governance
Bezos Earth Fund operates as a philanthropic organisation governed by a leadership team and guided by ten core principles. It collaborates with governments, businesses, and civil society through partnerships that enable large-scale, science-based solutions for climate resilience and environmental protection.
Programs and offerings
Its programs target seven areas: nature conservation, food systems, environmental justice, decarbonising energy and industry, economic transformation, technology innovation, and monitoring. The Fund provides grants, research, and technological tools—such as climate satellite data and AI challenges—to accelerate sustainability and global climate action.
