Overview
Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA) was established in 2014 at the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Summit. It is a global coalition uniting public, private, and civil society actors to mobilise investment for low-carbon and climate-resilient urban infrastructure worldwide.
Mission and focus areas
CCFLA’s mission is to close the urban climate finance gap by supporting subnational governments in developing bankable climate projects. It focuses on sustainable finance, ESG-aligned investment, and resilience-building in cities, particularly in emerging economies.
Structure and governance
CCFLA operates as a multi-stakeholder coalition supported by a Steering Committee and managed by a Secretariat hosted by the Climate Policy Initiative. Its governance framework promotes collaboration among members from finance, policy, and urban development sectors.
Programs and offerings
Key initiatives include the Leadership for Urban Climate Investment (LUCI), Action Groups, Local Hubs, and the Project Preparation Facility (PPF) Connector. CCFLA also produces resources such as the State of Cities Climate Finance report, the Financial Instruments Toolkit, and a Project Preparation Resource Directory, offering valuable data and frameworks for practitioners.
Mission and Vision
CCFLA is a global, multi-stakeholder coalition committed to mobilizing and accelerating investment in urban climate action. Its mission is to bridge the financing gap for sustainable, low-carbon, and climate-resilient cities by bringing together diverse actors, including city and subnational networks, financial institutions, governments, and civil society. We envision a world where all cities, regardless of size or economic status, have access to the financial resources needed to implement ambitious climate actions, ensuring a resilient, low-carbon, and healthy future for urban populations.
