Overview
Climate Action 100+ (CA100+) was launched in 2017 as a global investor-led initiative. It aims to ensure the world’s largest corporate greenhouse gas emitters take necessary action on climate change. The initiative seeks to reduce financial risk and preserve long-term shareholder value through effective corporate climate strategies.
Mission and focus areas
CA100+ focuses on driving corporate action aligned with the Paris Agreement. Its three core goals are to reduce emissions, strengthen climate governance, and improve disclosure on climate-related risks and opportunities. The initiative supports sustainable finance by promoting net-zero transition alignment and integrating ESG considerations into investment decision-making.
Structure and governance
CA100+ is coordinated by five investor networks: Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC), Ceres, Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC), Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), and Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). Each network supports signatories in engaging companies and tracking progress. Governance is overseen by a Steering Committee representing investor interests.
Programs and offerings
The initiative’s key resource is the Net Zero Company Benchmark, which assesses corporate progress toward net-zero alignment. CA100+ also provides sectoral and thematic engagement frameworks, case studies, and proxy season resources to guide investor stewardship. These tools help investors evaluate climate performance, promote transparency, and encourage credible corporate transition plans.
