Inflection Point, a London-based wholly-owned subsidiary of the multi-asset European fund manager La Française Group, works to provide environmental, social and governance (ESG) research and investment insights for equity and fixed income. By redirecting investment flows with superior long-term, risk-adjusted financial performance, Inflection Point aims to develop innovative solutions to have a positive impact on environmental and social conditions. Its research approach is based on thematic ESG analysis, including resource depletion, energy transition opportunities and climate change.

Inflection Point’s sustainability research is based on the notion that intangible value is central to fundamental analysis, furthering the need for a streamlined approach that integrates financial criteria with non-financial metrics. Their research is based on the ‘5-Factor Model’, assessing a company’s environmental sustainability, human capital, organisational capital, adaptability and responsiveness, and innovation capacity. Further, thematic investment research is conducted to assess the exposure of companies to secular trends.

Additionally, Inflection Point conducts data analytics to evaluate ESG scores for companies, comprising more than 5,000 listed companies globally. They also carry out impact assessments and portfolio analysis and reporting.

Inflection Point was established in 2009 by Matthew Kiernan, the founder and chief executive of investment research boutique Innovest Strategic Value Advisors. La Française Group partnered with Inflection Point in 2013 to create a jointly-owned investment management subsidiary. In 2017, Inflection Point became a fully-owned subsidiary of La Française Group, now assisting the European fund manager with more than 70 billion euros in assets under management and bolstering its responsible investment (RI) innovation capacity. Inflection Point developed the Strategically Aware Investment (SAI) approach at La Française, which is embedded within all equity portfolios and a number of fixed income products.
