OVERVIEW
The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) is a globally recognised professional body that serves and represents actuaries. Actuaries are experts in assessing financial risks and using mathematical models to make informed decisions. Their primary focus is on promoting excellence in actuarial science and advancing the actuarial profession.
The IFoA is committed to maintaining high professional standards, providing education and training for actuaries, and contributing to public policy discussions. Their goals include fostering innovation within the profession, promoting diversity and inclusion, and ensuring that actuaries play a vital role in addressing emerging challenges in areas such as insurance, pensions, and investments.
The organisation is structured into two parts: the Institute and the Faculty. The institute focuses on educating and qualifying actuaries, while the faculty concentrates on the ongoing professional development of qualified actuaries. This structure allows the IFoA to provide a comprehensive and integrated approach to actuarial education and practice.
As financial experts, actuaries play a crucial role in sustainable finance by assessing and managing risks related to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors. The IFoA is actively involved in promoting the integration of ESG considerations into actuarial practice. Actuaries contribute to sustainable finance by providing insights into the long-term financial implications of climate change, social responsibility, and ethical investment practices.
The IFoA offers a range of resources, including educational programs, professional qualifications, and continuous professional development opportunities. Actuaries associated with IFoA have access to cutting-edge research, publications, and tools that support them in their roles. The organisation also facilitates networking and knowledge-sharing among actuaries worldwide.
