NatureFinance is an organisation dedicated to aligning global financial systems with nature-positive outcomes. Its primary focus is on leveraging finance to address pressing environmental challenges such as biodiversity loss and climate change. NatureFinance works at the intersection of nature, finance, and policy, aiming to create financial mechanisms and partnerships that drive sustainable development.
The organisation’s key goals include mobilising capital for nature-based solutions, advocating for nature-related financial policies, and promoting innovative financial instruments that integrate environmental considerations into investment and lending practices. NatureFinance also seeks to influence public and private sector strategies, ensuring that financial systems are structured to support the protection and restoration of nature.
NatureFinance offers a range of practical tools and resources, including research reports and financial frameworks, designed to support decision-makers in integrating nature into financial practices. The organisation’s research focuses on areas such as biodiversity finance, climate resilience, and sustainable economic models. It also provides insights into how financial markets can evolve to better account for nature-related risks and opportunities.
In addition to research, NatureFinance fosters collaboration between governments, financial institutions, and civil society. This approach helps create an enabling environment for scaling up nature-positive investments. By connecting key stakeholders and promoting nature-based financial innovations, NatureFinance plays a crucial role in advancing the global agenda on sustainable finance. Its efforts contribute to building a financial system that not only preserves natural ecosystems but also ensures long-term economic sustainability.
Nature Finance had organised an initiative called ‘Taskforce on Nature Markets’Â which aimed to shape a new generation of purposeful nature markets that delivers nature positive and equitable outcomes, and contributes to meeting climate goals. The taskforce has concluded in mid-2023.
