Project Drawdown
Project Drawdown is a nonprofit organisation focused on researching and communicating climate solutions. The organisation seeks to help the world reach drawdown which is the future point in time when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline.

OVERVIEW
Project Drawdown reviews and analyses climate solutions. Climate solutions are the practices and technologies that reduce the excess greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. Project Drawdown evaluates climate solutions against two climate scenarios. Scenario one is in line with 2˚C temperature rise by 2100, while scenario two is roughly in-line with 1.5˚C temperature rise by 2100. Their work seeks to demonstrate that the world can reach drawdown by mid-century if all climate solutions are applied.
Project Drawdown publishes a list of climate solutions which is updated and reviewed regularly. The list includes ways to reduce sources of emissions and to enhance natural carbon sinks such as forests.
To accelerate climate action, Project Drawdown partners with organisations and communities. The Drawdown Labs initiative partners with private sector organisations that have science-based emissions reduction targets aligned with 1.5˚C. They work with organisations to test and accelerate the scaling of climate solutions quickly, safely and equitably. Their program, Drawdown Communities, helps climate-conscious voters, taxpayers, and consumers to take collective action, and influence policymakers, corporations, and others to accelerate climate solutions in their area.
In 2017, Project Drawdown released a book called Drawdown which is on the practices and technologies that can reverse the buildup of atmospheric carbon by 2050. Project Drawdown also has educational resources to engage people to take action and create new ways of teaching and learning about how the world can reach drawdown.
Project Drawdown highlights climate solutions that benefit human well-being including health and education, improved cookstoves, Indigenous peoples’ forest tenure and sustainable agricultural intensification for smallholders. It seeks to make climate solutions accessible to thought leaders and changemakers around the world to help boost economic, health and educational equity while addressing climate change.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to help the world reach “drawdown”—the point in the future when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline, thereby stopping catastrophic climate change—as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible.
