Publish What You Pay Australia (PWYP Australia) is a non-profit organisation focused on promoting transparency and accountability in the extractive industries. Its primary goal is to ensure that citizens benefit fairly from the exploitation of natural resources by advocating for greater transparency in revenue payments and contracts between governments and extractive companies.

PWYP Australia’s structure comprises a network of civil society organisations, activists, researchers, and concerned citizens working collaboratively to advance its mission. The organisation engages in advocacy efforts aimed at influencing policy and regulatory frameworks to increase transparency and accountability in the extractive sector. Additionally, it fosters partnerships with governments, industry stakeholders, and international organisations to drive meaningful change.

In relation to sustainable finance, PWYP Australia plays a crucial role in advocating for transparency and accountability within the extractive industries, which are pivotal sectors in sustainable development. PWYP Australia provides a range of resources and tools to support its mission, including research reports, policy briefs, and toolkits designed to enhance understanding and awareness of transparency issues within the extractive sector. Its research focuses on various aspects of revenue transparency, including revenue collection, allocation, and governance, as well as the impact of extractive activities on local communities and the environment.

Furthermore, PWYP Australia offers training sessions and workshops to build capacity among stakeholders, empowering them to advocate effectively for transparency and accountability in the extractive industries. Through its advocacy efforts and collaborative approach, PWYP Australia strives to create a more transparent and accountable extractive sector that benefits both communities and the environment.

We are  committed to transparency and accountability on our operations. Our generous donors support salary costs, research, advocacy, training for communities, administration and travel. In 2021, we secured major funding from the following sources for our advocacy, research and campaigns:
