Headquartered in London, The Financial Innovation Lab is an organisation that seeks a transformed financial system for the benefit of people and the environment. The organisation was founded by World Wide Fund for Nature United Kingdom (WWF-UK) and Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) but now operates as an independent organisation.

The Finance Innovation Lab, commonly referred to as The Lab, pursues transformation through a strategic model that targets key areas of the financial system that generate change. The lab aims to impact societal mental models and power dynamics to create long-term change, build power through communities and initiatives and running programmes that directly impact key areas including growing purpose-driven finance, shifting mainstream finance, influencing law, regulation and policy and building the community. The Lab provides informative resources through news articles, blog posts, webinars and publications and advances change through their community.

The Lab’s community connects changemakers composed of fellowship members, alumni, innovators and influences from varying industries that all strive for a more sustainable financial system. Events are hosted to inform members on the latest financial insights and to connect networks.

In addition to the community, The Lab runs programmes such as Transforming Data and Transforming Finance that conduct research projects on data revolution and compose informative publications respectively. Further, the Intrapreneurship programme supports workers in banking and investments companies to facilitate transformative change from within their institution, while the Fellowship programme supports emerging innovators and entrepreneurs to refine their ideas and abilities to develop strategies to achieve a purpose-driven financial system.

The organisation operates through a management system of a Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer with three Heads to lead their programmes, intrapreneurship and the community. The Lab also works in close collaboration with trustees and senior fellows to effectively seek financial system reformation.
