The Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG) is an independent global steering group catalysing impact investment and entrepreneurship to benefit people and the planet. GSG seeks to build momentum behind the impact movement towards a resilient and sustainable investment system for the long term.

OVERVIEW
The Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG) was established in August 2015 as the successor to, and incorporating the work of, the Social Impact Investment Taskforce under the UK presidency of the G8. The GSG brings together leaders from finance, business and philanthropy to ensure measurable impact is considered in every investment and business decision.
The GSG is represented in countries via their National Advisory Board (or NABs) and Regional Advisory Boards (or RABs). To date, 33 countries have joined, with National Advisory Boards in 18 countries plus the EU as members. The GSG is governed by a Board of Trustees which includes representatives from the NABs.
The main activities undertaken by the GSG include:
- Developing and accelerating impact ecosystems in countries
- Creating formal working groups for new knowledge, insights, definitions, and standards
- Advocating with G7, G20, the EU, the UN and the OECD, and other governing bodies
- Catalyse Outcome Funds and Market-building initiatives
- Organise and host events, including the annual GSG Impact Summit
In addition to the above, the GSG aims to meet a broad range of ambitious objectives with the help of its partners. These include:
- Shape the Impact Investment efforts globally
- Share knowledge, research and best practices between countries
- Provide advocacy and policy support
- Identify how capital can be used to achieve SDGs and COP21
- Create global definitions & standards
- Identify and develop new markets
- Enable entrepreneurship, innovation and capital to deliver impact at scale
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the GSG is to drive real impact that improves the lives of people and the planet by innovating, agitating and orchestrating the advance towards impact economies.
FUNDING SOURCES
