Overview
Transparency International UK (TI-UK) is an independent UK-registered charity and national chapter of Transparency International, active since 1995. It aims to tackle corruption and strengthen integrity systems within the UK and where the UK has global influence. TI-UK focuses on exposing corruption, promoting transparency and advocating for accountability across public, private and civil sectors. Its work supports informed decision-making and public understanding of corruption’s impacts on governance and economic systems.
Mission and focus areas
TI-UK’s mission is to stop corruption and promote transparency, accountability and integrity across all sectors of society. It conducts robust research and evidence-based advocacy to address systemic corruption risks, such as illicit finance, political integrity and gaps in regulatory frameworks. TI-UK’s work aligns with sustainable finance and ESG priorities by highlighting how corruption undermines governance and market integrity, posing material risks to investment, economic stability and stakeholder trust. By engaging with policymakers, businesses and civil society, the organisation contributes to efforts aimed at integrating anti-corruption considerations into broader sustainability and governance practices.
Structure and governance
TI-UK is governed by a Board of Trustees responsible for strategic oversight and accountability, supported by an executive leadership team led by a Chief Executive. The organisation operates through specialist research, policy and advocacy teams, collaborating with UK and devolved governments, parliamentarians, business representatives and civil society networks. It also participates in the wider Transparency International movement, contributing to global anti-corruption efforts while maintaining operational autonomy in its national work.
Programs and offerings
TI-UK produces independent research reports, policy briefings and sector-specific analyses that inform debates on corruption, economic crime and transparency. Its outputs are used by stakeholders in public policy, compliance and risk management. The organisation engages in public advocacy campaigns to influence legislative reform, including anti-money laundering and beneficial ownership transparency. Through partnerships such as the Business Integrity Forum and collaborative benchmarks, it also works with companies to improve anti-corruption practices and governance standards.
Our mission
Our mission is to stop corruption, promote integrity and, to that end, hold power to account for the common good.
