Overview
Climateworks Centre is an independent, non-profit climate research organisation established in 2009 by Monash University and the Myer Foundation. It operates within the Monash Sustainable Development Institute and focuses on accelerating the transition to net zero emissions across Australia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
The organisation aims to bridge the gap between research and real-world climate action by providing evidence-based analysis and practical solutions.
Mission and focus areas
Climateworks Centre’s mission is to develop and implement solutions aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C, supporting system-wide decarbonisation. It focuses on key sectors including energy, industry, cities, and food, land and ocean systems, alongside enabling systems such as finance, corporates and economies.
Its work directly supports sustainable finance by advising investors, governments and businesses on climate risks, transition pathways and investment opportunities, helping integrate climate considerations into financial decision-making.
