Overview
Fair Finance Asia (FFA) is a regional network of Asian civil society organizations (CSOs) that aims to influence the investment policies of financial institutions operating in Asia. The network focuses on ensuring that these institutions uphold the rights of local communities and protect the environment. FFA is part of the broader Fair Finance International movement.
Mission and focus areas
FFA’s primary focus is on advancing sustainable finance by encouraging financial institutions to integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria into their lending and investment decisions. Key focus areas include climate change, human rights, gender equality, and transparency within the financial systems of Asian countries, including Pakistan, Cambodia, and others.
Structure and governance
FFA is a network of over 90 CSOs. The initiative is supported by Oxfam and operates through various national coalitions across the Asian region. It collaborates with regional and international partners to harmonize advocacy efforts and research on sustainable finance standards.
Programs and offerings
FFA conducts research, produces policy assessments, and engages in advocacy to monitor the performance of financial institutions against international standards. The network also provides capacity-building for CSOs and engages in dialogue with regulators and financial sector stakeholders to promote the adoption of more responsible financial practices.
