Overview: The Climate Leaders Coalition (CLC) is a CEO-led community of over 80 organisations in New Zealand, committed to leading the response to climate change through collective, transparent, and meaningful action focused on mitigation and adaptation.
Mission and focus areas: CLC unites businesses to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon and climate-resilient future. The coalition promotes climate action among its members, supports Aotearoa’s domestic and international climate commitments, and advocates for effective climate policy.
Structure and governance: CLC is governed by a CEO Steering Group comprised of senior leaders from member organisations. The coalition works closely with the Sustainable Business Council (SBC), holds regular events—both major and smaller CEO-only gatherings—and convenes working groups such as the Adaptation Working Group.
Programs and offerings: CLC provides members with networking opportunities, an opt-in business-to-business mentoring program, monthly masterclasses on good practice, guidance to help signatories meet the coalition’s Statement of Ambition, and collective advocacy efforts for climate policy. It also produces regular reporting, such as the Annual Snapshot Report, highlighting progress on emissions reduction and adaptation.
Formed in 2018, the Climate Leaders Coalition has a mission of having New Zealand business CEOs leading the response to climate change through collective, transparent and meaningful action on mitigation, adaptation and transition.
