Loan Syndications and Trading Association (LSTA) is the trade association, research, standards setting and policy voice for the syndicated corporate loan industry in the United States. OVERVIEW
Loan Syndications and Trading Association (LSTA) promotes equitable market principles and connects and represents the shared interests of loan market participants. LSTA partakes in regulation, data analysis, documentation, and education to support the syndicated loan market. LSTA aims to support investors in corporate loan assets and facilitate continued availability of credit to American companies. LSTA is engaged with issues such as Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), leveraged lending guidance and risk retention. The association also hosts global conferences, webcasts, and continuing legal education (CLE) and offers loan documentation to standardise processes and documents used within the loan market.
LSTA plays an active role as the recognised voice of the syndicated loan market in issues including submissions of numerous amicus briefs, comments, and response letters. LSTA also facilitates several committees, working groups and forums for members, with committees specifically designed to focus on practice areas on a regular basis. A few committees include the ESG committee, women’s committee, and accounting committee.
LSTA is a not-for-profit trade association. Full and associate members are typically market participants, whilst associate members are entities which have a strong interest in the market but which are not themselves market participants, such as law firms.
LSTA undertakes a variety of activities to foster the development of policies and market practices designed to promote just and equitable marketplace principles. The association also encourages coordination with firms facilitating transactions in loans and related claims.
LSTA together with Asian Pacific Loan Market Association (APLMA) and Loan Market Association (LMA) provide various resources to facilitate and support environmentally and socially sustainable economic activity and growth including guidance and access to Green Loan Principles and Sustainability Linked Loan Principles. LSTA has also curated a Sustainable lending glossary and Sustainable finance library inclusive of environmental, social and governance (ESG) education.

To promote a fair, orderly, efficient, and growing corporate loan market while advancing and balancing the interests of all market participants. LSTA achieves its mission through leadership, advocacy, education and insights.
FUNDING SOURCES
LSTA is a not-for-profit trade association with costs borne by its membership. There are over 350 different members, as of 2021. Members include commercial banks, investment banks, broker-dealers, hedge funds, mutual funds, insurance companies, fund managers, and other institutional lenders, as well as service providers and vendors.
