OVERVIEW
The Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) is the leading active network of people and organisations engaged in responsible, ethical and impact investing across Australia and New Zealand. With over 450 members managing more than US$29 trillion in assets globally, RIAA champions responsible investing and a sustainable financial system in Australia and New Zealand. RIAA’s membership includes super funds, fund managers, banks, consultants, researchers, brokers, impact investors, property managers, trusts, foundations, faith-based groups, financial advisers and individuals.
RIAA is dedicated to ensuring capital is aligned with achieving a healthy society, environment and economy. RIAA achieves its mission through:
- Providing a voice for responsible investors in the region, including influencing policy and regulation to support long-term responsible investment and sustainable capital markets;
- Delivering tools for investors and consumers to better understand and navigate towards responsible investment products and advice, including running the world’s first fund certification program, and the online consumer tool Responsible Returns;
- Supporting continuous improvement in responsible investment practice among members and the broader industry through education, benchmarking and promotion of best practice and innovation;
- Acting as a hub for members, the broader industry and stakeholders to build capacity, knowledge and collective impact; and
- Being a trusted source of information about responsible investment.
RIAA provides informative factsheets on responsible investment and research on impact investing, Australian superannuation funds, consumers and benchmark reports on Australian and New Zealand responsible investment markets.
RIAA also has several initiatives, including the Australian Sustainable Finance Initiative, the Corporate Engagement Working Group, ESG Research Australia, the Human Rights Working Group and the Impact Investment Forum. Each of these initiatives underpins RIAA’s purpose and mission in promoting a sustainable financial system.
MISSION STATEMENT
To promote, advocate for, and support approaches to responsible investment that align capital with achieving a healthy and sustainable society, environment and economy.
FUNDING SOURCES
The funds of the association are derived from annual subscriptions of members, grants, donations, income derived from programs and projects run by the association, and, subject to any resolution passed by the association in general meeting, such other sources as the board determines. See part 6 (39) of the Constitution for more information.
