Good Food Institute (GFI) is a nonprofit organisation focused on promoting plant-based, cultivated, and fermentation-derived proteins to foster a sustainable food system. Its key goals include reducing the environmental impact of food production, improving food security, and enhancing global health.
GFI operates through several initiatives, including research, industry support, and policy advocacy. It provides valuable resources such as market insights, consumer behaviour data, and technical publications that support innovation in alternative proteins. Their comprehensive solutions database and tools, like the literature library and cultivated meat research tools, facilitate knowledge sharing among researchers and industry professionals.
Additionally, GFI’s focus on sustainable finance is evident in its encouragement of investment in alternative protein companies, helping to align financial practices with sustainability goals. By offering a platform for collaboration between stakeholders, GFI contributes to the development of effective policies and standards for the burgeoning alternative protein sector.
We are developing the roadmap for a sustainable, secure, and just protein supply. We identify the most effective solutions, mobilize resources and talent, and empower partners across the food system to make alternative proteins accessible, affordable, and delicious.
We are a nonprofit supported by a global community of donors from more than 60 countries who are committed to advancing alternative proteins. We are listed as a top-recommended charity by evaluators such as Founders Pledge, Giving Green, and Charity Navigator and have earned Candid’s Platinum Seal of Transparency, reflecting our commitment to maximum impact, efficiency, and inclusion.
GFI only accepts gifts from companies in the alternative protein sector for open-access research or as sponsors for events and conferences. We do not accept gifts that may compromise our independence or integrity, or that may create a real or perceived conflict of interest.
