OVERVIEW
Deloitte is one of the largest professional private services in the world, with more than 286,000 employees and US$32.4 billion dollars in revenues. Industry sectors that Deloitte specialises in include the consumer sector; government and public services; energy, resources and industrials; life sciences and health care; financial services; and technology, media and telecommunications.
The firm’s roots were established in 1891 when Yarwood Vane and Co opened for business. Almost 100 years later – through multiple mergers including partner names such as Dulhunty Grant and Co, Irish Young and Outhwaite – the firm took the name Deloitte Haskins and Sells in 1980. In 1993 the partnership adopted the name Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
Deloitte believes that climate change, water scarcity, supply chain risks, waste and recycling are challenging the limits of traditional processes and technologies and demanding greater attention from business. As a result, environmental sustainability has moved from being a niche area overseen by specialists to becoming a C-suite priority.
This has led to an emerging sustainability service line within Deloitte. Its purpose is to support Australia to become a more sustainable country and society for the long term. Deloitte works with its clients across all areas of sustainability including strategy, leadership, environment, safety, social impact and supply chain.
Deloitte is the only professional services firm to make it to the Fortune’s top 50 ‘do good list’ because it has been shown that the UN Sustainable Development Goals aligned with the company’s purpose to making a positive impact for their client.
