OVERVIEW
The Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) was established in 2001 as a forum for collaboration between pension funds and asset managers to address investment risks and opportunities associated with climate change. Its work covers all aspects of the investor agenda on climate change.
Key areas of focus:
- Policy Programme: IIGCC helps shape sustainable finance and climate policy, and regulation for key sectors of the economy by working with policymakers, parliamentarians, ministers and other stakeholders to ensure the investor perspective is at the heart of the conversation on climate change and sustainable finance policy. This enables IIGCC, in close collaboration with its members, to help inform and strengthen policy decisions made in support of a low carbon, climate resilient world. This is focused primarily at the EU and global levels
- Corporate Programme: IIGCC supports members in effective stewardship and active ownership of corporate listed equities and bond investments. Our work helps inform, align and support investors in ultimately safeguarding and enhancing long term returns across their investments in listed equity and corporate bonds. This includes a focus on seeking to ensure investee companies are working to business strategies that are consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
- Investor Practices Programme: IIGCC helps members and the broader investment sector better integrate climate risks and opportunities into their investment processes and decision-making by providing a forum for investors to collaborate and develops tools and resources to deepen understanding of investor practices on climate change and support the implementation of related best practice.
Each of their work programmes is developed and delivered in collaboration with members. From collaboration with stakeholders, representing members on the global stage, or producing reports and guides for the sector, the IIGCC’s work strengthens the contribution investors are making in helping realise a low carbon future.
MISSION STATEMENT
