OVERVIEW
Profundo analyses international commodity chains, the financial sector, policy developments and the impacts of businesses and financiers on all sustainability aspects including human rights, deforestation, climate change, tax, armed conflicts and water scarcity. Services include assisting clients to understand financial and trade relations as well as identifying opportunities and obstructions for a sustainable transition.
To identify the facts and understand the relevant relationships and mechanisms, Profundo use a broad array of research techniques, ranging from desk research and financial modelling to interviews with experts and stakeholders as well as field research. Findings and conclusions are presented in reports and brochures for internal use as well as publications targeting the broader public. Profundo provide strategic advice to clients, offer trainings, organise workshops and facilitate stakeholder consultation processes.
Profundo is working for NGOs, governments, research institutes, investors and businesses. For civil society organisations (NGOs), Profundo researches the involvement of financial institutions in companies and issues, analyses trade relations and tax avoidance in commodity chains, assesses financial institutions’ investment policies, writes corporate social responsibility (CSR) profiles for companies, gives strategic advice and training, evaluates public policy and formulates lobby proposals.
Profundo offers various assistance to government and research institutes, include analysing opportunities and barriers for making sectors more sustainable, identifying and evaluating financial instruments and policy options, finding private partners to enhance sustainability and analysing the role of financial institutions with regard to policy issues.
Profundo also develop and evaluate responsible investment policies for investors, identify sustainability risks in supply chains, advise on engagement, exclusion and voting policies, select fund managers and research providers and find opportunities for impacting investing.

FUNDING SOURCES
Funding is obtained from the provision of goods and services as well as contracts with Dutch NGO’s, governments and research institutes, financial institutions, international NGOs and others.
