OVERVIEW
The State of the Climate series, initiated in 2010, provides a biennial assessment of Australia’s climate. Jointly produced by the Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO, it synthesises observational data, climate reconstructions, and model projections to analyse long-term climate trends and year-to-year variability. The methodology integrates local and international research to create a clear picture of Australia’s changing climate conditions.
The purpose of this series is to inform economic, social, and environmental decision-making by identifying trends in weather extremes, such as heat events, rainfall patterns, and sea level changes. This data-driven approach allows finance professionals to understand climate risks, identify trends that impact business operations and investments, and incorporate climate considerations into risk management and strategic planning. By offering a scientific basis for understanding climate changes, this series supports finance professionals in aligning their practices with long-term sustainability goals.
