This report is a benchmark series published by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA), initiated in 2024 following amendments to the *Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012*. It presents gender pay gap data for private sector employers in Australia with 100 or more employees, compiled through WGEA’s annual Employer Census.
This series provides employers, analysts, and policymakers with standardised, comparative data on gender pay gaps at national, industry, and individual employer levels. The series includes base salary and total remuneration measures, workforce gender composition, and remuneration by pay quartile. In 2025, it was enhanced to incorporate remuneration data for CEOs, Heads of Business, and Casual Managers.
WGEA calculates gender pay gaps using full-time equivalent annualised salaries, ensuring that part-time and casual roles are standardised for comparison. Employers’ results are presented as both average and median gaps, with contextual data such as industry benchmarks and employer size used to support analysis.
Finance professionals can use this series to benchmark gender pay equity performance within their organisation or across sectors. It supports internal audits, informs compliance and reporting obligations, and assists in identifying structural disparities that may affect workforce planning and remuneration strategy.
