Overview
The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Trends Report series examines how businesses integrate gender equality and women’s empowerment across their operations. The series is structured around the WEPs framework, covering leadership, workplace, marketplace and community practices and the progression from corporate commitment through implementation, measurement and transparency.
Purpose
The series is designed to provide an aggregate view of corporate approaches to gender equality and women’s empowerment. It supports businesses in understanding how the WEPs are being implemented in practice and highlights areas where further corporate action and resources may be needed.
Methodology
The series draws on aggregated, self-reported responses submitted by companies through the WEPs Gender Gap Analysis Tool. This confidential self-assessment evaluates corporate policies and practices across leadership, workplace, marketplace and community areas. Questions consider four management stages: commitment, implementation, measurement and transparency. Individual company information is kept confidential, with reporting based on aggregated data.
The series was initiated in 2018, when the first Global Trends Report was published using responses collected through the WEPs Tool following its launch in 2017.
Relevance for finance professionals
Finance professionals can use the series as a benchmarking and assessment resource for examining corporate approaches to gender equality. It can support ESG analysis, due diligence, engagement and assessment of company policies, governance, workforce practices, supply chains, community impacts, measurement and disclosure relating to women’s empowerment.
