OVERVIEW
The Investment Integration Project (TIIP) is a US-based organisation that develops tools, resources, and advisory services for system-level investing — an advanced sustainable investing strategy focused on managing systemic risks and investing in solutions to systemic problems such as climate change, income inequality, and economic crises. It is relevant to institutional investors, finance professionals, and policymakers seeking to move beyond conventional and sustainable investing to address complex, system-wide challenges.
Organisation behind the tool
TIIP is developed and maintained by The Investment Integration Project. Work including the organisation’s industry needs assessment and case studies report has been supported in part by the Surdna Foundation.
What the tool does
TIIP offers three main services and resources. First, a Consulting & Research stream provides advisory services to pension funds, investment management firms, private foundations and endowments, government agencies, and major industry associations on establishing and implementing impact and investment goals to address system-level issues. Second, SAIL (Systems Aware Investing Launchpad) is TIIP’s flagship turnkey solution — described as a “one-stop-shop” for system-level investing implementation, comprising a plug-and-play solution investors can use to chart their course as a system-level investor and a community of practice aimed at driving broader industry transformation. SAIL is an AI-enhanced platform and was publicly launched with an inaugural cohort of 22 leading investors in August 2023. Third, a Resource Hub shares insights via presentations, speeches, publications, reports, blog posts, and op-eds on system-level investing.
Target audience
TIIP’s primary audience is institutional investors, including pension funds, investment management firms, private foundations, endowments, and government agencies. The SAIL community of practice also targets investors seeking to adopt system-level investing approaches and learn from peers.
Relevance to finance professionals
TIIP is directly relevant to finance professionals across several areas: ESG integration and risk assessment, as the platform addresses the systemic nature of social and environmental issues and their connection to investment decision-making; impact measurement, through frameworks and case studies demonstrating how investors bridge systemic issues and their portfolios; and strategic investment planning, through practical tools supporting the implementation of system-level investing at the institutional level.
