OVERVIEW
The Project Preparation Support Database (PPSD) is a searchable database of international, regional, national and subnational project preparation facilities (PPFs), as well as climate-focused incubators and accelerators. It is hosted on the NDC Partnership Knowledge Portal and is designed to improve access to climate-aligned project preparation and business development support. The database supports the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by connecting users to relevant resources.
Organisation behind the tool
The PPSD was developed by the NDC Partnership Support Unit, with contributions from the Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA) and the United Kingdom’s Climate Finance Accelerator (UK CFA), both of which supported the development of the database.
What the tool does
The database enables users to search for and identify project preparation facilities, climate-focused incubators, and accelerators across multiple geographic levels. It is designed to help users find relevant resources for developing bankable projects and scaling climate-aligned business models. The tool supports matchmaking between project developers and support providers.
Target audience
The PPSD is relevant for climate practitioners across emerging markets and developing economies. Primary users include public and private project developers, financial actors, Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs), investors, and startups seeking support for climate-aligned project development.
Relevance to finance professionals
The database assists financial actors in identifying project preparation facilities that can help move climate projects towards bankability. It provides visibility into available business development support structures in emerging markets, which is relevant to impact investment, climate finance deployment, and the sourcing of NDC-aligned investment opportunities.
