Forest IQ is a data platform developed by an alliance of leading not-for-profit organisations with expertise in data-driven approaches to tackling deforestation. It is designed to assist financial institutions in assessing and managing their exposure to deforestation risks.
The platform offers open data and metrics on how over 2,000 major companies are addressing their links to deforestation. This includes three core metrics: exposure to deforestation and conversion of natural ecosystems, financial materiality of forest and ecosystem exposure, and performance reporting on deforestation and associated human rights abuses.
For financial institutions, Forest IQ provides additional licensed data, including financial identifiers (ISINs), a bespoke API, and priority technical and customer support. This tailored offering aids in the transition to deforestation-free financial portfolios.
By integrating Forest IQ into their risk assessment and stewardship processes, financial professionals can enhance their screening capabilities and contribute to eliminating commodity-driven deforestation from investment portfolios.
