OVERVIEW
CLIMATEFIT is an EU-funded initiative under the Horizon Europe Programme designed to bridge the finance gap for climate resilience. It aims to empower public authorities and investment entities to identify and implement bankable climate adaptation projects across European territories. For finance professionals, the tool provides a structured framework to align public adaptation needs with private investment opportunities.
Organisation behind the tool
The project is led by the World Climate Foundation (WCF) and delivered by a consortium including the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), the CMCC Foundation (Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change), and the Forum per la Finanza Sostenibile. It is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Programme.
What the tool does
The platform offers a suite of resources including an Incentive Mechanism Database and a selection tool to help authorities identify policy incentives. Key features include a structured Investment Plan Methodology (Deliverable 3.1) to guide regions in developing financial strategies for nature-based solutions and climate resilience. It also facilitates the creation of taskforces to connect regional governments with financing entities.
