Overview

The Gender Equality Report & Ranking is an annual benchmark series launched by Equileap in 2017. It evaluates publicly listed companies on workplace gender equality and diversity using the proprietary Equileap Gender Equality Scorecard™, providing comparable assessments across companies, sectors and markets.

Methodology

The benchmark assesses companies against 21 gender equality indicators, with rankings based on 19 scored indicators. These include gender balance across organisational levels, gender pay gap disclosure and performance, parental leave, flexible work arrangements, anti-sexual harassment policies, workforce policies, supplier diversity and other workplace equality measures. The assessment is supplemented by monitoring controversies relating to discrimination based on gender, race and ethnicity, and LGBTQ+ identities.

Purpose

The series provides a consistent and transparent measure of corporate gender equality performance, enabling comparisons over time and across jurisdictions. It highlights leading companies and markets while tracking broader trends in workplace equality and corporate disclosure.

Relevance for finance professionals

Finance professionals can use the benchmark to integrate gender equality considerations into ESG and responsible investment analysis, compare companies against peers, identify leaders and laggards, support company engagement, and inform investment research, portfolio construction and stewardship decisions using standardised, comparable data.
